History of Andco Kitchens & Baths, Inc. (Click here for historical pictures.)
Before World War II, cabinets were typically handmade by a carpenter directly on the job site for a specific home. Not only was this a labor intensive and time-consuming process, but also it was very expensive. In the 1940's pre-built metal cabinets were introduced but only came in one style and a few limited sizes. Andco was one of the first in Rockford to sell these ready-made cabinets.
In the late 1940's mass produced wood cabinetry became available. The only style produced was a birch door in a natural finish with a veneer maple core cabinet frame. Andco searched to find a manufacturer that offered more options but was still affordable for its customers.
Cabinetry from Aristokraft offered the perfect solution. Aristokraft, a former Jasper, Indiana lumberyard, was quickly becoming a top supplier of cabinets nationwide by building quality stock cabinetry in a variety of options to accommodate any budget and taste. Acquiring the Aristokraft line in 1960, Andco Kitchens is one of their first distributors.
Over the years as trends changed, Andco extended their offerings to include stock-built, semi-custom, and custom cabinetry lines. Customers could also choose from a variety of granite, quartz, acrylic, or laminate countertops in a several colors, options, and manufacturers.
Today, Andco has two locations and continues to provide its customers with the latest in convenience and elegance at a good price. Their professional and knowledgeable designers specialize in only cabinetry and countertops, so they are able to offer suggestions and help alleviate problems creating a more rewarding and positive shopping experience for homeowners.
