Things to Consider before Purchasing
All postform countertops will have seams, especially in corners and countertops with angles.
In generall, all laminate countertops over 144" in length will have seams, miters, or butt joints.
Certain woods change colors as they age especially when exposed to the sun. Some cultured marble tops will also slightly change color if not exposed to air. Be careful when planning on purchasing items to match and existing products.
Common Care and Maintenance Issues to Avoid
Avoid putting hot pots and pans directly on countertop surfaces. Placing them on hot pads is not sufficient protection because too much heat can travel through to the countertop and cause replaceable damage. We recommend using a wood cutting board or hot plate.
Avoid extreme changes in temperature when using your sink or cultured marble tops. The change in temperature will cause cracking typically arond the drain. Thermal cracks cannot be repaired, so some manufacturers recommend care especially during winter and summer months and always not using water temperatures over 140 degrees.
Avoid water around seams in countertops. The particle board underneath countertop seams can absorb water from spills that have set too long or from steam from a coffee maker. We recommend cleaning up spills right away and moving coffee makers away from these areas.
